Okay, The starting deck you make must be at least 40 cards. You may Choose Mirrodiin, Kamigawa, Time Spiral, Cold Snap, Lorwyn, Shadowmoor, Alara, Zendikar, or Innistrad Block to add to Ravnica: City of Guilds block and Tenth Edition for your card pool to build a deck.
So your pack pool should look something like:
Mirrodin, Darksteel, Fifth Dawn, Ravnica, Guildpact, Dissension, Tenth Edition.
You may choose 1 NonLegendary Creature card to represent you. It does not have to be from your card pool. It must have a CMC of 3 or less. The cards color identity its any color in its casting cost or referenced as a Mana Symbol in its text. (Effects that say add any color to your mana pool are considered to be written out as (W)(R)(U)(G)(B) so are considered all 5 colors)
i.e. Bant Battlemage is a White Creature, but has a Blue mana Cost activated ability, and a Green Mana Cost Activated ability. This causes Bant Battlemage to be a White/Blue/Green Creature for Mana Identity purposes.
i.e Tivadar of Thorn is a White Creature, but it has Protection from Red. The ruling says that only the mana symbol counts as a the color, so this creature does not get Red as part of its identity.
You may use Common, Uncommon, or Rare creatures to represent your character.
Your deck cannot contain cards that have cost that are not of your color identity. Cards text during deck construction is ignored, so if your identity is (R)/(B) and you wish to use Jund Battlemage who is a (R) creature but has (B)/(G) activated abilities can still be used. Cards with a Hybrid Mana cost can be used as either/or for there colors. so for the example above the player can still add an Orzhov Guildmage to his deck since it can cost only (B) mana.
Land do not have a color. This is not to be confused with being colorless though. You may still play lands in your deck that can produce colors not of your identity.
For deck creation you are to choose at least 1 guild to represent and that matches into your Color Identity, Because of this you must choose a creature that has at least 2 color for its identity. the 10 guilds are:
Boros Legion(R/W), Cult of Rakdos(R/B), Golgari Swamr (G/B), Selesnya Conclave (G/W), House Dimir (U/B)
Orzhov Syndicate (B/W), Izzet League (R/U), Gruul Clans (R/G), Azurius Senate (U/W), Simic Combine (U/G)
Spell List
1 Rare (Preferably Legendary) Creature (Guild Leaders not allowed)
1 Rare Instant, Sorcery, Enchantment, or Artifact
8 Uncommon cards
14 Common Cards
Land
1 Bounce Land of your Guild
1 Shock Land of your Guild
1 Gate Land of your Guild
1 Guild Building of your Guild
1 Rare Land from other Block
2 Uncommon land
9 Common Land
Side Board
10 Common Cards/Land
Common Land and Common card count are interchangeable.
Only 2 Copies of any card Can be owned during character creation. If a card says you may have unlimited number of it in your deck (not including basic lands) you may own up to 4 copies of that card.
Please post your Deck List with your Character name as the Thread Title.
