A bad acid trip. You feel sick to your stomach as you nearly puke while on your knees. When you get a few deep breaths the air smells untouched. Your on top of a small mountain with a waterfall nearby. There is a large lake just before you that would take probably a day to swim across. Yaoel is standing next to you looking a bit apologetic. Your eyes return to the lake, hanging above it were several small island covered with traditional Japanese architecture. Aswell as water falling from them feeding the lake.
Mellir- "Ugh, hello? thought you went back home? Well that is... interesting architecture... how did they do that?"
Yaoel- “Sorry probably should have talked to you more about this idea before hand. I’ll start with my problem first off.” She shows the spot where the black mark had been but its gone. “The mark he put on me allows him to summon and command me whenever he wants. Normally it can only be put on someone like me and him when we are willing or greatly weakened. I was to hurt after the battle with the Devil to stop him so now if I go against him, he can subjugate me. Don’t be alarmed, but cause I just summoned you I could command you in the same way, but that’s not why I brought you here.”
Mellir- "Where exactly is here? And why did you bring me?"
Yaoel- “This is a different Plane, another entire world apart from San Diego. This plane is called Kamigawa and not far from here is Minamo, the capital of the Moonfolk. I am the last of my Choir, and I wish to seak justice for what happened to them. For that I’m going to need more help. You saw me just after my last scuffle with Eligor.”
Mellir- "So you want me here to help negotiate an alliance? or just be a bodyguard type while you do it?"
Yaoel- “Oh! No this place is where I’m taking a short break to recover. Figure it would be nice to summon you here so you can get a chance to learn about the multiverse rather then I just summon you in the middle of a fight and task you to kill something. I know these people, and they have some of the most excellent scholars and monk in the multiverse.” She waves her hand about and you both lift off the ground. “This way.” She moves towards the nearest Temple building. “They draw water up in the center of the spout to hold there buildings aloft, they waterfall coming of it is the water falling back down.”
Mellir- I follow, "Interesting, I do not understand how it is done, but it is beautiful."
Yaoel- “Most of the humans here speak common, the Moonfolk are the rabbit looking people, but don’t call them that, they tend to only speak Primoridial. They are a bit full of themselves, but the archives are worth it… and they owe me a few favors. Are you partial to tattoos?”
Mellir- "I've always felt tattoos must have a meaning behind them. Something greater than an image traced onto your skin. Say perhaps a memory permenantly installed to remind you of defeating a demon or such."
Below you underneath the water a great blue Asian dragon swim lazily in circles, “We’ll have to be careful. Keiga normally only shows up when his people are threatened. It most sense something… O, wow.” She looks to the east, great rolling plains are in that direction. “Our… benefactor… just walked to the plane. I’ve never felt a greater evil then that thing.” You both landed at one of the temples. There were several humans moving about cleaning, while dozen of Moonfolk were training in the courtyard. Yaoel starting talking swiftly in what sounded like some kind of Chinese or Japanese. One of the human monks bow and lead you both to a room. “For the moment I told them you are my personal guard, they are going to think you can fell mountains since I trust you to guard me.”
Mellir- "Fell mountains... right... lets hope none of them challenge me to arm wrestling..."
Yaoel- “I meant it as a figure of speech, even I can’t do that. I’m sure you have question and they will be bringing us food soon enough.” There was a low table and cushions she offered as she took one of the sides.
Mellir- "Do any of them speak english?"
Yaoel- "Common, All of them do, but the Moonfolk dont normally use it."
Mellir- "Ah, ok. You said they were monks? I would like to learn more of them and this place. This is all so far beyond what I know."
Yaoel- "I can arrange for you to work with them, probably tomarrow though, i believe you did die today once."
Mellir- "Fair enough. Death seems to be a close friend lately. Twice i have died, and twice you have save my life."
Yaoel- "Well from now on, lets put him beyound arms reach. I have been worried what happens if people use to many totem armors, it there is last effects."
Mellir- "Like you said, we have time between the wars for now. Let us relax and enjoy life a bit."
The food arrives, and tea. It looks like mostly fish based japanese food. One of the people that come with to oversee the ?servant? is moonfolk, and talks with Yaoel briefly before leaving. "They just wanted to make sure my injures werent from anything nearby. Go ahead and eat up."
Mellir- I eat the exotic foods and enjoy the scenery and just have a relaxing time with Yaoel.
The next morning your up just before the sun rises for a small breakfast, Yaoel takes you to the library after that, She says you will be attending the after lunch practice with the other monk, for now she wants to catch you up on some worldly info. She explains there are 5 color of magic, each with there own philosophy, White, Blue, Black, Red, Green. Each person in any world will have there 'essence' there soul rooted in one or more colors. They are not bound by those colors but find them easier to use. Yaoel says she was born White, but as she started her training she picked up Red and Blue as all Yaoel do. Yaoel is the official name of a Lightning Angel, it refers to the group of them, and she herself doesnt have a personal name. Elignor like most demons are Black and tend to war with Angels constantly. Elignor is what they call a Halo Hunter, a demon that specializes in killing angels. This also leads into the distinction of a Planeswalker. Yaoel and Shadow are planeswalkers, they under their own power can move between the worlds. Normal people cannot do this, the Blind Eternitys will rip them asunder should they somehow get to the area between worlds. Then there are Champion of the realm, or Legendary Creatures or objects that there are only 1 of. Mellir is such an upstanding combatant that he is Legendary, and that can be summon specifically. Other people who have not tried so hard, have not accomplished enough are only summoned like a bare mast produced model of that type of person. Brett is a basic soldier and she has been unable to summon him specifically. Either way there made up entirely of mana while summoned, this will completely mimic there actual self, but it maybe shocking when your tossed back to where you were when you die. She has to take extended rest to resummon Legendary characters so please try not to die. She will get better at resummoning you the better she gets to know you.
This is improtant to understand cause the Panther Vampire had been conjuring basic vampires back in San Diego, but that Panther wasnt a Planeswalker. Yaoel doesnt understand how they even got to San Diego in the first place. Devil lady and Panther were both flesh and blood real creatures not formed from mana. But Devil lady had taunted her about Eligor so she had to come from another plain somehow.
Mellir- "What if Eligor had come to my plane ages ago and set about gaining followers here, then when random happenstance you land on a plane where he had followers he just ordered them to find you?"
"The bases is possible, but Eligor isn't a Planeswalker. He should be trapped on Dominaria where we both started, and then we have that creature, The Nightmare that lives Beyond (Shadows name), who just got my summoning rights. He says he wants to kill Eligor, but he's stronger then the demon, I can't see why he would need my help."
"I also have a moral question for a human. Eligor has a favored spell that does most of his damage for him. He christened it Go for the Throat, it obliterates flesh very well. I know of another plane that i'm also in good standing with, its call Esper. They know how to turn flesh into metal, they said they could do most of my body and even give me metal wings, turn me into one of there Filigree Angels, but... my early career was fighting a craze army called Phyrexia, half the spell i know are to destroy metal creatures that they created. I'm leery of doing to myself what phyrexia had always wanted to do, even if its what i need to give me the advantage against Eligor."
Mellir- "It seems to be less of a moral question and more of a personal one. What are you willing to sacrifice to increase your chances of defeating Eligor?"
Yaoel- "Ill meditate on it more. It's time for the noon meal, then your training with the monks."
Food, Tea, then on to the training grounds. The monk are practicing mostly styles based on self discipline, and teamwork rather then anything that is meant for real personal defense, but the training is showing how they are pulling off nearly impossible feats of dexterity. Each of them have a Tattoo on there left shoulder, and Yaoel explains that is a picture of a great enemy each had to overcome, they had offered her one a long while ago, but she can seem to get tattoos, her flesh wont hold them. Most of there tattoos are Large Serpents, or maybe a Spirit creature, one of them has a Moonfolk as his tattoo. These monks are mixed races of Human, Moonfolk, and there is even 1 Were-Rat referred to as a Nazumi. men and women were welcome.
Mellir- I work with the monks and train with them in their styles. How often do you honestly get to train a style from a different plane?
The training session for until evening meal. After seeing your skill, and hearing of your recent exploit of defeating/holding back a blood drinking were cat you are offered a Black Tiger tattoo (there no panthers on this plane).
Mellir- I accept the tattoo with muy muy humility and a…
(Google translate says)"Wǒmen jiāng hěn róngxìng wèi nín jiārù wǒmen de xiōngdì." a Moonfolk says and the tatoo starts that night. must remain awake and still, and it normally takes until morning. (concentration check, =26) You deal with it fine. As the morning dawns you have a nice new painful addition to your left shoulder, a black colored tiger
Thankfuly, they monks are not beyond understanding, they let you rest for the morning and you wake up for afternoon meal.
Mellir- I am back on my feet and training as soon as possible. Dont want to waste any times
They are glad to see you return, and you immediate return to there training. Nearing the end of the day they have 'waterbenders' come out and make small spout of water rise from the lake that the monks practices jump to and fro from. There is nothing solid inside, but the force alone is what you push off of.
Mellir- I join in the jumping around, learning how to control movements on unexpected stability.
You move from the platform out following each of the steps down to the surface of the lake and back up like you had done this ever evening, barely a step behind the monk ahead of you. Once down to the surface you go back up to the platform still without issues. Each monk does 3 laps, and you keep pace.
Late in the Evening after the training dies down Yaoel returns. "I'm well enough, I'm going to move on to Esper. After i walk from this plane, your mana form here will return to the Blind Eterinities. You should be back in San Diego until i'm ready to summon you again. It maybe a day or two so do not worry. See how Brett is doing." She is prepareing to walk, if you have any other question or Comments for her, she can still answer.
Mellir- "Let me give my thanks to the monks here before I go please." which I do and then I prep for the ride home. Hopeing everything will be alright
She doesnt walk until you return from you farewells. when she does its very disorienting, you feel sick and vertigo but it all fades away with you doubled over on the stairwell outside your house. You have 24-48 hours of so before she will summon you again. What will you do with this time, and new knowledge?
Mellir- I find Brett check on him and see whats going on
The police tape around your hous is gone, no one inside, just as you had let it before you got summoned. Outside Brett's vehicle is gone, but your is still in its parking spot. The lack of a cellphone now kinda sucks, but imagine you will be making your way to the Gym or Brett's house?
Mellir- To Bretts house and pick up a track phone.
Brett isnt home, after a few calls you find he’s at the gym. You head there. The business is open, hes in the office as there no one here right now. He has a laptop, Printer, and a few boxes of paper. He seems really glad to see you and gets up for a hug. "Man you had me worried, you went up to your place and never came down again. Then you walk in here almost 3 day later man, what happened?" His burns look alot better now, but hes alway going to have them. He drags you over to a seat and tosses you a water.
Mellir- I down the water and explain to him the situation. "Training in another world. On top of water spouts. Amazing.
Brett- "God, wish i could go with. The paperwork here... the fight was postponed, seems while the vampires where messing around here, there was a bit of an epidemic going around, dozens of officials claimed to be under some kind of mass hypnosis so nothing was getting reported. Everyone seems to be doing better now that there gone so at least we got that going for us."
Mellir- "Nice. So i am gonna be gone soon, so ima need you to cover for me."
Brett- "Back to the other world? Like forever, or long weekends type thing? We got the dough to cover for ya for a couple of months maybe, but sometime your going to need to get things in order here."
Mellir- "Yeah i dont know how long. I will ask her when i go again. but i would like to know i have something to come back to as well."
Brett- "Well my place is always open, but i'll see what i can do about your loft and stuff. Find out there other universes out there, and i'm over here talking about finances. I need priorities set straight. What was it like?" Mostly falls into BSing with a friend type stuff, anything important you want to make sure gets done, or can i skip ahead to when you finally get summoned? Also anything you try to keep on your person just in case for when ur summoned?
Mellir- Get some clothes and gear, fatigues and what not. Hell this time my whole duffel bag with all my military equipment, including Guns and the stun baton. some MREs, water rations... Basic survival gear. Med kit... lighters, several lighters... i have no fucking clue what the next plain is gonna be like.
Little awkward keeping a military duffle bag in hand or on your back almost constantly for nearly a day, but eventual you do feel that pull in your gut and you are deposited on a rusted metal pillar overlooking a marshwater filled metallic canyon, filled with more rusted beams and scraps. Above you is the night sky but it has dozens of lines crisscrossing, cutting everything into little sections. “I’m going to bet that is a soldier uniform from San Diego? Its what the soldiers looked like when I tried to summon Brett. Here is something a bit less conspicuous, I don’t think they have seen the color green in this world before.” Yaoel has a stack of clothes in her hands when you can get standing. Baggy cloth leggings, what appears to be an oversized blue tanktop, a number of metal rings in silver and bronze for your wrists. “About the only real surprising thing you will notice around here is people have limbs and mass quantities of there body made from metals, generally the more that is metal the richer and more powerful they are.”
Mellir- "Ugh, hello? thought you went back home? Well that is... interesting architecture... how did they do that?"
